The "cramps" may be associated with a possible partial block in one or both Fallopian tubes, which were "opened" with the influx of the injected medium ( saline or radio-opaque dye) during the HSG. The spotting could result from cervical irritation from the manipulation of the cervical injection site. Ask the physician who performed the procedure about sexual activity guidance.
