This question is best answered by the oral surgeon who performed your extractions, but.my sense is to leave that piece of tissue alone and let nature take its course. Notify the oral surgeon if there's significant discomfort,swelling or bleeding.

Have the surgeon look at the area, and you may need to have a few sutures placed to close up extraction site. You don't food or debris to get into extraction site causing an infection.
