Which is better, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis?

They both can be effective. Not all patients qualify for the the criteria that is necessary to do peritoneal dialysis however.

There is no better. It depends on what the patient wants and needs. Both can be done at home if chronic need. Some prefer peritoneal and others hemo. So discuss risks and benefits and ask about transplantation as well. Better than either dialysis if it goes well.
