Depends on Person!: Both are good methods for treating kidney failure, though transplant is likely best overall. Peritoneal dialysis is easily done at home while the 'patient' is sleeping. Hemodialysis takes more training, but it can be done at home - and overnight as well. Remember that kidneys work 24 hours a day, so the more dialysis, the better! different methods have pro's and cons for individuals; talk to doc.

To peritoneal or not: Hemodialysis cleans your blood directly meaning, your blood is taken from you, ran thru a filteration system, then returned to you. On the other hand, peritoneal does it indirectly. The blood vessels in your abdomen are exposed to a very concentrated solution.
