https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6541315/#:~:text=Gelastic%2Datonic%20seizures%20are%20characterized,disease%20Type%20C%20or%20variants. Gelastic atonic seizures and gelastic cataplexy are difficult to differentiate. A "pseudocataplexy" that is really attributed to epilepsy needs to be excluded. An MRI and an EEG will be part of the work up, and neurology should be overseeing.
