Your liver function tests should be monitored very carefully while on the statin and if the AST and ALT begin trending higher, then the statin may need to be stopped. So, get the blood tests checked a couple of weeks after starting the statin and then monthly for a few months after that. Your doctor can order the tests for you. Best of luck to you!

Yes, it can Be used with Gilbert syndrome. The kind of liver test elevation with Gilbert syndrome is very obvious, and it will not be affected by taking a statin. If your doctor recommends it, consider it highly. Good luck.

In Gilbert syndrome, usually the liver enzymes, AST and ALT are not elevated. Evaluation of elevated liver enzymes includes a thorough history a to see if you are taking any medication that affects the liver or have any history of hepatitis or family, history of liver disease or excess alcohol use. Blood test for viral hepatitis iron overload should be done .
