Radiating: Yes, shooting pain is often a short, sudden radiating pain. It is not a dull, aching , or cramping type sensation. Shootong pain can occur spontaneously, or with certain movements. This type pain is often associated with nerve irritation, but can occur with some large muscle groups. In the head , it can be nerve related , migrainous, referred from the muscles of the neck, or from the cervical spine.
