A member asked:

Hello. i wanted to know if incubation period for hiv varies with mode of transmission (anal, vaginal, or oral)? if so, what are guidelines as to testing? thank you?

The mode of transmission has no effect on incubation period for testing. A standard AgAb (4th generation) blood test detects 98% of infections by 4 weeks and 100% at 6 weeks.
