Many things can cause pain in that area. Keep a diary about when it starts/stops/gets worse/what makes it better and share wirth your Dr and can you all will figure it out.

If there's no neck or jaw discomfort any other times, your symptom may be brought on by grinding your teeth during sleep. Otherwise a neck and throat examination by your physician or an ENT specialist is in order.
