I was diagnosed with memory loss and i was wondering. if you have short term memory loss would that effect your long term memory too?

Depending on the cause, it is possible. For example, Alzheimer's Disease patients lose short-term memory initially and later the long term goes. This is the course with progressive disease, but acute problems such as head injury might solely affect the short-term.
