A member asked:

Had a question, when we eat any food, what is the process that happens, does the food turn from a solid into nutrients? like the food is no longer in the body, it changes into different essentials the body needs?

Yes, basically right. This is digestion. Enzymes in saliva, the stomach, and intestines break down foods into chemicals that are absorbed into the bloodstream and then taken up in tissues & organs for normal functioning, growth, and all human processes. Unused food components and various chemicals leftover or produced in these processes are then passed in stool and urine. Google "human digestion".

The processes of digestion include six activities: ingestion, propulsion, mechanical or physical digestion, chemical digestion, absorption, and defecation. More info than I can fit into 400 characters: https://courses.lumenlearning.com/suny-ap2/chapter/digestive-system-processes-and-regulation/#
