A member asked:

I accidentally used tap water in my netipot and now i was freaking out about naegleria fowleri. i normally boil the water or use distilled. i took a phone call and completely forgot to boil it. i live in pasadena, ca. should i be worried?

Approved city water supplies filter out such contaminants. I don't consider boiling water from this source a worthy investment of time. Heating briefly in a microwave to body temperature makes use in a netipot better tolerated. Do as you wish, but I wouldn't consider the amoeba worth considering.

Netipots can be a source of infective organisms if not handled with care. You can worry about an amoebic contaminant in your water supply if you wish, but why not contact your local water company and ask about potential contaminants?
