Every time my kid is on their menstrual cycle they get symptoms of a cold is there a reason for this? they get congestion, scratchy throat, itchy eyes, and a cough. it starts about a week before they start their cycle and it lasts about a week after?

It is felt that the immune system weakens in the days before a period leading to colds. Sometimes allergy type symptoms get confused with head colds. If your kids are getting true head colds with periods very often, try improving their immune systems with giving them vitamin C daily & see that they get good sleep regularly.

This is my thought. Since your daughter is only just beginning womanhood, her body is still somewhat new to the changes that occur. Her body might be less resistant to the changes, and thus she develops those symptoms. Hopefully, as she becomes older and more mature, her body will not be as sensitive. Ask Pediatrician if they can offer any advice, suggestions.
