A member asked:

Does having a large amount of slimy cervical mucus 4 or 5 days midcycle indicate that the body produces adequate estrogen......even if most of the luteal phase is without notable discharge...or mainly dry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, that mucus is an estrogen effect and allows sperm survival, which otherwise quickly die in the vagina. Once ovulation occurs progesterone levels go up which causes this mucus to dry up, and what you are noticing in the luteal phase is normal.
