A member asked:

I have a thigh lump. mri and dopler show a 2.5x1.5cm uncapsulised, unvasculated lypoma. doc thinks the 1% risk from adenocarcinoma should be tested with puncture. can puncture be agressive over lypoma, can it hurt it and turn into lypocarcinoma?

It is unusual for a lipoma to ever turn cancerous, but if the doctor believes that there is indication for doing a biopsy of the lipoma, you should consider it strongly. If you have concerns, discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure with the doctor, and proceed from there. A biopsy should not increase the chance of a lipoma turning into cancer. Good luck.
