saline drops and sprays are safe and often effective. run a humidifier also . sometimes though noises from the nose are simply vibrations from tiny nasal passages and is normal

Newborns often have congestion during the first week of life. The suction bulb and baby saline drops are often effective but not always necessary. Watch for signs of fever and cough.

Sitting with the baby in a steamy bathroom can help clear congestion. I will try saline drops and suction once, after that, it is not very comforting for baby or anyone else to be held and saline dropped down the nose.
