A member asked:

What is the difference between a deep plane face lift and a regular face lift? advantages/disadvantages to each? can either be performed under iv sedation as opposed to general anesthesia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some "facelifts" are relatively simple suspension procedures with redundant facial skin pulled up from behind the hair line on both sides of the face. A "deep plane" face lift is a more complicated undermining of the facial skin, and the resulting scar tissue may be difficult to repeat once the remaining skin is stretched with aging. Obtain a consult with a facial plastic surgeon for guidance.
