Sorry just to check if you did a pooled test swabbing different sites with the same swab. would a viral culture test be able to distinguish which location the hsv was positive in, if you used the same swab for different sites. thank you for your help?

The swab will likely be tested for viral nucleic acids, not cultured. However, either way, there no way to lactate the infected site in a pooled specimen.
