No, a biopsy is needed to rule in or out temporal arteritis, high resolution MRI with MRA remains inferior to bilateral temporal artery biopsies in properly diagnosing this condition.

MRI films would not demonstrate pathology within the temporal artery. This process does NOT occur in 18 y.o. females. Screening for the problem starts with blood tests (sed rate and C-reactive protein). A temporal artery biopsy is the definitive test.
