Probable infection: Boils are either inflamed cysts or bacterial infections like an abscess or a furuncle. If it is draining and painful, please see your doctor as soon as possible. You may need antibiotics after a bacterial culture is taken from the wound.

Possible infection: If it is in fact a "boil" it could either just be inflamed but since it is painful i would worry about the possibility of an infection - expecially if you popped it and traumatized it with your hands. Our hands are really dirty! make your way over to your dermatologist or a walk in center to get it checked out for possible infection.
