A member asked:

Hello, i want to know if the body can permanently get rid of hpv, there are those who say that it remains forever but is undetectable, how scientific is this opinion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The visible sores/lesions of HPV, like the genital warts, can clear spontaneously and or be removed. People with a normal immune system will have this clearing of the primary infection. However, HPV is a family of viruses (dozens of strains) well known for going into hibernation in your tissues and potentially returning in the future. The cancer related strains may take decades to give you cancer.
