One of the most common causes of headaches is neck muscle tension, and it sounds like that is what you are describing. Sometimes if you've strained a muscle in one side of your neck, you can have symptoms like yours also. Stress and lack of sleep would aggravate the problem. Infection of the scalp would cause noticeable skin redness and tenderness. Are you dealing with increased stress currently?

May be occipital neuralgia, or even Lyme disease ( rash? ) or cervical disc disease , or variant migraine ( any light sensitivity? ). F/U w/ neurology
