At this age, the baby's skin is very delicate. Avoid contact with shampoo and soap. Wash linens and towels in a fragrance free baby detergent. Avoid direct exposure to the elements. Pigmentation may take weeks to normalize. In the meantime, watch for signs of infection such as fever or poor feeding.
