An urgent care doctor gave my two year old inhaled budesonide in a nebulizer for her cough. she isnt my regular pedi so i just wanted to make sure this was standard practice will this increase her risk for lung infection? or any other illness? thnx?

This is not an uncommon use of this med for such problems. There is controversy over its effectiveness, but many believe it helps.

Montelukast is often effective in reducing cough due to inflammation. Both Budesonide and Montelukast are anti-inflammatory agents. Watch for signs of shortness of breath, cough and wheezing.
