Im 47. went through menopause at 43. im experiencing menstrual like cramps. i also feel soreness &burning. i saw dr. she ordered ultrasound. she said there was atrophy on my cervix and vaginal wall & prescribed vagifem 10. is cramping from atrophy?

Cramping is unlikely from atrophy.Atrophic vaginitis or atrophy or the cervix and endometrium is a normal part of aging and menopause due to the decrease in estrogen as you age and can be partially reversed with the supplemental estrogens. Cramping is a muscular reaction which is caused by uterine contractions to expel your shedding endometrium during your period. Try NSaids like ALeve for cramps
