I couldnt remember tonight when i took my 20mg lisinopril if i had taken it a couple minutes before (was distracted), i believe i only took it once but may have taken it twice totaling 40mg of lisinopril. i am prescribed 20 mg / day. is this okay?

Yes, one isolated incident should not cause significant issues, 40 mg is still a commonly prescribed dose, however in the long range a tool to avoid such events, such as a pillbox or an app should be used proactively. As a rule of thumb, if unsure do not take a second dose.
