A member asked:

In laymans terms, what does cell to cell transmission mean in relation to hiv and unprotected heterosexual sex?

These terms are not used by HIV specialists or sexual health experts. Insertive sex (penile penetration into the vagina or rectum) is required for HIV to be transmitted. Oral sex and kissing are little or no risk. Know your partner(s) and if any doubt about their past sexual history or risk, use condoms until both have been tested for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia. Good luck.
