Beyond the negative aspects of "sitting too long" regarding exercise and potential decreased venous return to the heart, which can cause blood clotting in lower extremities, "sitting too long" also compresses the sciatic nerve and can cause resultant pain. Blood in the stool is a different problem, and should be evaluated by a GI physician as soon as possible.
