Varies: Depends on per bleed condition and how the patient is after. It can take a year to recover.

Depends: The recovery rate for a ruptured avm varies. It is dependent on the amount of damage caused by the bleed. For example, is it near the motor areas or the areas that control speech/language. Furthermore, was surgery done? There is an increased risk of re-bleed after the first bleed (6%/yr vs 3%/yr). A second or third bleed could be a significant set back and could slow the recovery.
