Are you allowed to visit a podiatrist with the injured foot barefoot?

Not sure what type of injury you have, if there is an open wound, if you can put pressure on it, or why a really loose shoe won't fit, but you shouldn't walk barefoot in the street with such an injury.

I would not concern myself on how you should present yourself in front of your doctor. My feeling is see the doctor. They usually have seen it all What is important to the doctor is your health.
