A member asked:

I have an active cold sore and while sleeping, i drooled on my hand - some ran into the corner of my eye. my sore has been covered with a hydrocolloid patch so it's not openly weeping. how concerned should i be that the virus will spread to my eye?

Not concerned at all. Once someone has herpes more than a few months, auto-inoculation (spread of the virus to new body areas) almost never occurs; the immune system prevents it. Your oral herpes probably will never go anywhere else. Don't worry about it.
