You could be relating the tight calf muscle with the flu. If you were active before the flu the inactivity for a few days could cause shortening of the tendon/ muscle Walking would loosen/stretch the muscle. Start a stretching regimen from the internet, doctor or physical therapist.

Calf pain is a common feature of influenza B and involves infiltration of the muscle with virus and some tissue injury. It can take weeks to fade as your body fights off & kills the virus. It will take some time to repair the injured muscle fibers but full nrecovery is expected.
