A member asked:

Can you see endometriosis during hysteroscopy? i know gold standard is laparoscopy, but can it be seen at all during hysteroscopy ?

Hysteroscopy involves viewing the internal endometrial cavity of the uterus, and endometriosis is not possible to determine without laparoscopy. While menstrual pain and/or loose bowels can indicate endometriosis, having laparoscopy during ones menses provides a more accurate diagnosis.

Endometriosis is the presence of the cells which normally line the inside of the uterus, in other areas like the abdomen. So looking inside the uterus( hysteroscopy) does not help.
