I am currently taking 75mg zoloft , 30mg buspirone. i added in 50mg of 5-htp 3 months ago. can 5-htp be taken for an extended period of time? if not do i need to taper off to stop it?

Do not take 5-htp if you're taking antidepressants like zoloft.as 5-htp increases serotonin in the body which can cause the very dangerous serotonin syndrome. Buspirone is also not recommended to be taken when on meds like zoloft. Discuss this very important issue with your prescribing physician to ensure the he/she sanctions the taking of both these meds in your particular case.
