It was a bit chilly in the library today and my nails turned greyish/blue. is that normal? i feel like you'd have to be in freezing temperatures for that reaction?

If you felt chilly the changes in your fingernails ( acrocyanosis) is quite understandable as your body shunted circulation away from the periphery of your body ( fingers, ears, tip of nose) and sent it into the core of your body to warm it up. This is a very normal reflex.
