Paragard is a hormone free method so it would not be affected by or causing mid cycle spotting.

Paragard IUD's have no hormonal component, but uterine contractions may displace the IUD into the cervical canal, and cause minor bleeding and cramps. IUD's like Paragard do not protect against pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic), so obtain a serum HCG to be certain. See your GYN physician and ask about a sonogram to determine the location of the IUD.
