Hi can i ask whats the maximum delay which is normal in a period before consulting doctor for a possible pregnancy as i am currently 5 days late for period?

It is not unusual to skip one cycle in most women so if you are sexual active, always check the urine test first for pregnancy after you miss period for 5 days, regardless of protected sex or not or using contraception. If there is no evidence of pregnancy (no sex or negative test), you should see a GYN doctor when you do not have period for 3 months, i.e. secondary amenorrhea.
