Nonspecific mild patchy bibasilar opacities on chest x-ray. went into urgent care for coughing and congestion, shortness of breath. what are bibasilar opacities, and what could be causing it?

Translation= opacities are created when the tissues are denser than expected, usually because are not fully inflated or they retain the fluid of inflammation. The description locates these at the base of both lungs. It all suggests a viral illness, or the person did not take a deep breath to the level usually done for an exam.

Since the radiologist is describing opacities rather than atelectasis and there's cough and congestion, I feel that bronchopneumonia is present and antibiotic treatment with a follow-up chest X-Ray after the course of appropriate antibiotics is advisable, but the examining MD is the best person to make that decision.
