Plan B (Levonogestrel 1.5mg) is to be taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, up to 72 hours. It is more effective the earlier it is taken, especially if one has not yet ovulated. It is less effective in women with a BMI over 30 (obese). Ulipristal (Ella) is a pill that is more effective than Plan B. Copper IUD (Para-gard) is the most effective emergency contraceptive.
