Two types of tissue in the brain and spinal cord can be distinguished with the naked eye. Grey (gray) matter with a higher density of nerve cell bodies processes, and white matter with mostly nerve fibers transmits information. This applies to the nervous system, not the rest of your body. Associations between some traits and reduced grey matter are being studied but our understanding is limited
