Dissociation is a generalized mental state where the conscious mind disconnects from the here and now of the physical world i.e. reality. Dreaming, and thus daydreaming requires a degree of dissociation as the mind engages in a made up or remembered scenario and becomes "maladaptive" if intentionally initiated or prolonged as a means of avoidance, or denial, of real-time reality.

Daydreaming is not necessarily dissociation, which is a specific symptom of a behavioral disorder. If you daydream to excess, interfering with life, then you need help to limit it. It can be an escape but also a way of focusing on problems. Please see a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple forms of psychotherapy. Medication prescribed by a Psychiatrist may also help with anxiety.
