A member asked:

I had a x-ray and it said moderate to severe disc space narrowing and endplate spondylosis c5-c6. there is moderate left and mild right foraminal narrowing at c5-c6. is this spinal stenosis or a type of arthritis?

Since the spinal canal doesn't appear to be constricted, your findings are more characteristic of wear& tear arthritis of the spine & degeneration of discs. Plenty of reasons for back pain. . Foraminal narrowing at the right side of the neck is a cause of nerve impingement that can cause right shoulder and/or arm pain.

Preferred terminology is cervical spondylosis with degenerative disc disease. Key is risk to spinal cord and/or nerve roots. You do not have spinal stenosis yet
