Can genital warts last forever or will your body get rid of them?

Once you are infected by a genital wart strain of HPV the germ is usually cleared by the body in two years. The warts can be frozen/lasered off or destroyed by chemicals to speed removal. HPV is a family if viruses that can lie dormant in the body for years, decades. It can cause recurrent symptoms in some depending on their immune system response.

It is unpredictable. It all depends on the invasiveness of the virus and your local and general immunity.

The body can usually get rid of the virus and warts. Sometimes persistent warts may need to be remover, frozen etc. Get HPV vaccine to prevent infection with other, more dangerous strains of HPV. Wish you good health!
