IUD sometimes after insertion cause temporary discomfort. Not commonly as severe. It may be like strong period cramping due to uterus stimulation . Some woman experience severe dysmenorrhoea with nausea and vomiting - in extreme after IUD insertion you can have such reaction. If doesnt subside go to your GYN.In the meantime take Ibuprofen 800 mg every 8 hours with food unless contraindicated

Pain is indication something is not right with the part of body in pain. One should go to ER if pain is unbearable or see the practitioner that placed the iud. Note that iud increases the risk of infection without condom. Good Reproductive Health Education is encouraged.
