IUD and bleeding: The Mirena (levonorgestrel) makes the lining thin and so it may take a while until your body adjust to it being there. It may make your cycles irregular for a while and is a known side effect of any iud. If you are comfortable using the iud as a birth control method, i would not remove it but i would monitor the bleeding and see your doctor if it continues to be irregular.
