Is prednisone 5mg okay to take while 40 weeks pregnant?

Maybe: In general, what's best for the mother is what's best for the baby. That being said, you would only want to take Prednisone during pregnancy if it were absolutely necessary. So, if you were having a severe asthma exacerbation, then yes, it would be a good idea. Prednisone crosses the placenta and has effects on the unborn baby.

Maybe: If the mother's health or wellbeing is dependent on it, it should be okay since the baby is full term at 40 weeks, but confer with your OB before taking any medications.
