Phenazopyridine (Uristat®, Azo® and others) does not treat or cure urinary tract infection; it only helps reduce symptoms. If you had positive uristat test strip, or symptoms of UTI like frequent, urgent or burning urination, get care in person to confirm the diagnosis and antibiotic Rx. This is especially important in males; need evaluation for underlying reasons (e.g. prostate problem).

Uristat strip is generally used before starting the pills.
