Spectrum is just a clinical term that implies that the person is in the wide range of possible expressions of a disorder/condition. The late teen and early adult years are a common time for the disorder to appear, but these people get older with time and their symptoms may evolve to be more or less intense. You need to clarify with your counselor how they use the term.
