Painful ankle: Any kind of blunt trauma to the ankle can cause pain and swelling, the swelling can affect the superficial nerve endings that feed the part of your foot that is cold. Please consult and podiatrist of foot and ankle specialist as soon as you can so that they can check if the circulation to that toe has not been affected as well.
