Anxiety triggers the release of hormones/chemicals like adrenaline that are part of the bodies "fight of flight" emergency response. These factors elevate the heart rate and blood pressure to some degree. Blood pressure meds can help reduce some of these effects, but anxiety can flare up and exceed control on some occasions.
